About the Newsletter

The K2J Fitness Newsletter was established in January 2012. It is intended to be a monthly / bi-monthly publication featuring running and runners in our community. Newsletter articles cover the latest information on race resuls, past and upcoming events and run clinics. Besides featuring who crossed the finish and when and where they did so, the newsletter offers anecdotes, useful tips from the frontline of running and a snapshot of the K2J Fitness running culture. All articles are unique to this publication.

The K2J Fitness Newsletter is available exclusively in electronic format. By submitting your email address, you are consenting to the delivery of a monthly K2J Newsletter email. Your email address will not be disclosed to any third-party web site.

Running News...

New York City Marathon to take more lottery entrants. The NYC Marathon will increase the number of bibs available in 2015 for lottery entrants, meaning those who have not hit the tough entrance standards will have a greater chance of being given entry to the race. Most of the new bib numbers are a result of the shuttering of the three-try guarantee, which has now been phased out. In past years, a runner who has applied but been denied entry to the race three time would be...

It's been a lazy, hazy summer but even though we did some relaxing, we covered a lot of ground: Running, Swimming and Biking and some times all three on the same day.

Another year and another Boston behind us with once again, some amazing results. And the K2J family continues to grow! One of the interesting things to come out of those Boston Marathon times is the placing of some K2Jers in the Marathon

As you all know, Judy keeps a wealth of statistics on all of us and the various races, etc. that we do over a year, totals them up and shares them with us all.

However, it may come as a surprise to you what modern tools she uses to keep track of all of this information !!

Newsletter - November 2013

Well another year has come and almost gone.  Hope it was a good year for training, running and racing for you. Not a great one here but learning some new techniques, meeting some new training partners and yes thinking there may well be at least one and maybe two more marathons in these knees. Maybe Chicago 2014 (wish I could have been there this year) and then London 2015 – why am I hearing strains of the theme from “Run Fat Boy, Run”.  And really, really looking forward to...

Newsletter - September 2013

WOW - into September already!! That was one long hot, occasionally nasty stormy, as in that wonderful track night with the horizontal rain and wind, summer. But despite all of that or maybe because of it in some cases we had some amazing results. So have a look and see what we’ve collectively been up to. Oh and by the way we now have our own “official” pace car - well actually it’s Judy’s car with nice large K2J magnetic panels on it -...

Newsletter - July 2013

Well it may be post Ottawa Race Weekend but the summer is a busy time for racing and of course the start of training for all of those late summer and fall races. Rumor has it that quite a few K2Jers will be heading to Chicago in October, wish I could be with you but Italy calls. I wonder if there is any good wine or food there? Or anywhere that I might take a few photos? So here we go - lots of stats, a few photos and a bit of stuff on K2J training with our new training poster on the last...

Newsletter - April 2013

After last year's New York Marathon and encounters with hurricanes and this year's Boston Marathon, I'm beginning to think we're living through the Chinese proverb- "may you live through interesting times".

Rather than try and summarize, make comments on or otherwise try to get a handle on the now past events of the Boston Marathon, lets leave that to the news media, offer thanks in our own ways for our safe return, and extend sympathies to those who did not fare as well as the K2J...

Newsletter - January 2013

The start of the 2013 season felt like the continuity of the last 2012 clinic. Lots of familiar faces, mixed with several new runners, will bring again a fun and challenging clinic. It was hard holding runners back on the first night even if most of them were getting ready to run the Richmond Road Race the following Sunday. Lots of nice results in Richmond... Some PBs and several placing in age group; setting the bar high for 2013.

Mother Nature’s frigid weather didn’t slow anyone down...
